Stocks in Bursa Malaysia declined across the board. The KL Composite closed lower by -12.33 points or -1.40% to settle at 865.32 points, as concerns about a prolonged global recession may substantially affect the fundamentals of the country and corporate earnings. Market direction was also influenced by continuous decline in global markets which saw new lows being created in most of the markets. KLCI Laggards were IOI CORP (-14 sen to RM2.94), PUBLIC BANK (-20 sen RM8.30) and SIME (-10 sen to RM6.30). KLCI Leaders were PETRONAS (10sen to RM6.80), AIRASIA (4 sen to RM1.17) and TANJONG (20 sen to RM12.00). Market Breath was negative with 455 decliners outpacing 124 advancers. Total Volume increased to RM611m shares worth RM0.72b from Wednesday's RM579m shares worth RM0.77b.
